The fourth day of the South Meath Challenge Cup was played in Rathcore
on Bank Holiday Monday. On the team were Sheila Lynam, Eilish O'Connell,
Laura Dempsey and Catherine McGrath. After a very good performance the team
are now in second place. The final day is in South Meath in September.

Last Wednesday's 9 Hole Competition was won by Laura Dempsey,Margaret Duffy was second. Sponsor was Betty Duffy.
The Club's BBQ on Friday evening was a great success. The evening started with a Mixed 3 Ball Scramble.Superb food was served and the good music that followed ensured a great night's entertainment.Proceeds went to the Offaly Hospice in conjunction with Sunflower Day.
On Saturday the South Meath Team, managed by Eileen Wynne played in the second round in Ballinlough Castle.It was a day of challenging course conditions but the team are still very much in contention in the competition.On the team were Anne Fitzpatrick, Sheila Lynam, Laura Dempsey and Catherine McGrath.
Competition next weekend is 18 Hole Stableford.Tee time is 4.30 p.m. on Friday evening and 2.30 p.m. on Saturday.
Ruth Curran and Patricia Mahon are the winners of the Scotch Foursomes Match Play.
Well done to both.

Well done to the Challenge Cup Team on their win over Tullamore in Moate last Monday. The Junior Foursomes Team also played in Moate last Wednesday against Birr but unfortunately were beaten.
This Wednesday is the Mary Murphy Memorial Competition sponsored by Ger and Ruth Curran. It is an 18 Hole Stableford and proceeds will be donated to the Offaly Hospice. Time Sheet is from 3.45 to 5.30 p.m. All lady members support is appreciated.

Anne Fitzpatrick and Mary Quinn were the winners of the 18 Hole Australian Spoons last Saturday on 39 points. They now go forward to represent the Club in Kilkenny in early July.
The semi finals of the singles match play have now been played and Bridie Fay and Ruth Curran will meet in the final.
The Challenge Cup team play in the second round of the competition against Tullamore in Moate this Monday.On the team are Mavis Scally, Patricia Mahon, Teresa Bermingham and Eilish O'Connell.
The Junior Foursomes Team are also in Moate this Wednesday when they meet Birr in the first round of that competition. Ruth Curran, Helen Galvin, Betty Duffy, Bridie Fay, Jeanette McCormack and Eileen Wynne are on the team.
Good luck to both teams.

The first round of the South Meath Cup was played in Castle Barna on Bank Holiday Monday. On the team were Laura Dempsey, Catherine McGrath, Sheila Lynam and Ann Fitzpatrick. All players can be pleased with their performance. Next day is in Ballinlough Castle in June.
Last weekend's Competition was an 18 Hole Stroke. The winner was Eilish O'Connell with Ann Fitzpatrick second. Congratulations to Betty Duffy who had a hole in one on the 9th on Friday evening.
There is an opportunity again this Wednesday evening 12th May for lady beginners to have a lesson from professional David Cully and a round of golf. Start time is 5.30 p.m. and fee is €10.
The Ladies Singles Match Play is now at the Semi Final Stage with Mary Quinn and Bridie Fay in one semi and Ruth Curran and Ann Fitzpatrick in the other.
Entries are now open for the Mixed Match Play. If you are interested in playing in this competition put your name and fee in envelope in the competition's box in the locker room.
The Mixed 9 Hole Competition started on Monday 10th May and continues every
Monday evening. Start time is 6.30 p.m.
Next Saturday's Competition is the 18 Hole Australian Spoons.

Saturday 10th April was the first Ladies Away Outing this year. Highfield Golf Club was the venue and 28 ladies played in glorious weather and perfect golfing conditions. The Castle Barna Team of Eileen Wynne, Jane Kennedy, Ruth Curran, Mary Foy and Betty Duffy played Moate in the first round of the Minor Cup on Monday 12th April. Unfortunately victory wasn't ours on the day.
Competition on Saturday 17th April was 18 Hole Single Stableford G.O.Y.

On Sunday 18th April, the Mixed Foursomes Team played at home and away to
Edenderry. The away matches were played by Bridie Fay and Liam Scally,
Eileen Wynne and Shay Egan, Jeanette McCormack and Robert Hogan.
Helen Galvin and Kieran McGurran and Mary Quinn and John M. Lynch took
on the home contest. However, the Edenderry team proved too good for Castle Barna.
On Monday 19th April the Challenge Cup Team, managed by Eileen Wynne, played Edenderry in Garryhinch Golf Club in the first round of the competition.
With Mavis Scally winning her match on the 16thand Geraldine Heavey on the 17th, Teresa Bermingham had to battle it out to the 20th before victory could be claimed. Well done to all the ladies on the team and best of luck in the next round.
The good weather has got the popular Wednesday 9 Hole Competition off to a great start . Last Wednesday's competition, sponsored by Brid Connor, was won by Catherine McGrath with Kate Elliott second.

The May Madness will be run over two Wednesdays, 5th and 12th May.
Time is from 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
Cost is €10 per evening and Pro David Cully will be available to give lessons.
Any ladies interested in trying their hand at golf are welcome to come along, no experience necessary. Our lady members will be there to welcome all.

Final of the Tullamore Nissan Winter League takes place next Sunday 21st March between the Top Dogs and the Crafty Codgers. Good luck to our ladies on the teams - Betty Duffy and Ruth Curran.
Also next Sunday there will be a presentation of prizes at 6.30 p.m. All outstanding prizes up to and including 20th March will be presented.
A Rules Night for the Ladies Club will be held in the Club House on Wednesday 24th March at 8 p.m. A Rep from the ILGU will be present. This opportunity should not be missed to get ourselves briefed on the rules of golf and have our questions answered.
Ladies Club are running an Easter Raffle for a beautiful Easter egg. Tickets at €1 each and are on sale in the club house. Your support would be appreciated.

On Sunday last Captains Liam Scally and Angela Lynch arrived by vintage tractor to their Drive In, in glorious sunshine and to the support of a huge turnout of members. The evening was idyllic for the Mixed 4 Ball Scramble which followed, the winning team were Noel Mooney, David Brazil, Mavis Scally and Brid Connor.

Last Saturday's 12 Hole 3 Ball Rumble was won by Ber Malone, Bridie Fay and Mary Quinn with a score of 57 pts.
Quarter Final Matches in the Winter League were always played last weekend with Kate Elliott, Kay O'Connor, Ruth Curran and Betty Duffy winning their Match Plays.
Next Saturday's competition is a 14 Hole Stableford starting at 1.30 p.m.
On Sunday all focus will be on our New Captains Angela Lynch and Liam Scally
when they will' arrive in style' to the Club for the Captains Drive In at 1.30 p.m.
This will be followed by a Mixed 3 Ball Scramble. Ladies come along and support
our Lady Captain Angela, a great afternoon is promised.

Saturday 12th December was the last day in the ladies golfing calendar for 2009. This was our 9 Hole Stableford Santa Hat Competition and with 39 ladies taking part there were vibrant sights of red and white around the golf course. The competition was followed by a sumptuous meal and there was great atmosphere and conviviality in the club house.
Following the meal Lady Captain, Mavis Scally, thanked the Committee and members for their support during the year and wished everyone a very Happy Christmas. In keeping with the season all the ladies were given a Santa Present.
Mavis reminded the ladies of two dates for our diaries - The Club's Annual Dinner Dance on Friday 15th January (tickets on sale in the club house) and Wednesday 20th January - the Ladies Club A.G.M.

Last Saturday morning the ladies were out early and in great numbers to play in the 18 Hole Stableford Christmas Hamper. These beautiful hampers were kindly sponsored by Glenn Wood Tullamore. Playing conditions weren't easy but this did not deter the ladies from bringing in good scores.
